Treated Children in 2022

The following figures can be presented from the last year:

110 children received surgery (Niger and Guinea-Bissau)
4,274 children were vaccinated
8,650 malnourished children received food
7,505 people participated in training and awareness-raising events.

Overall Numbers

During the last 29 years,

5,111 children received surgery
82,016 children were vaccinated
112,576 malnourished children received food.

Vaccinating and providing children with food is crucial as this protects them from suffering from Noma.

Encouraging Results

At the end of 2022, the Hilfsaktion can be pleased with the results. Regional centers throughout the country and the cooperation with the health ministry have made it possible to significantly lower the number of new Noma cases. Due to the political situation (refugees from Mali) and the persistent malnutrition, the numbers of new cases have risen again.
